NAHARLAGUN, Aug 7: A festival of goals awaited fans at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here as Capital Complex SC and Gangte Togung SC locked horns in a match where the goalkeepers had to collect the ball from the back of the net eleven times.
In a game that thoroughly tested nerves of both defences, it was the Capital Complex players who broke early and set the tone of the first half. Striker Tadar Kojum gave his team the lead 12 minutes into the game slotting home the ball. Another twelve minutes later, Kojum would once again find the back of the net to double CCSC’s lead. Tawang gets paper recycle unit
ITANAGAR, Aug 7: One of the first paper recycle unit has been installed by Environmental Protection Society in Tawang.
The recycle unit was jointly inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Tawang Abhishek Dev and Superintendent of Police IPS Nupur.
The corporate world has a major role to play to promote the use of recycled paper in order to contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable development in a meaningful way, said a statement from EPS.

SEPPA, Aug 7: East Kameng District Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Dirang Pizi, informed that few colonies of Seppa Town are favourable for transmission of JE viruses due to unhygienic settlement as almost all the residents owned a Piggery and Duck hut close to their residence.

ITANAGAR, Aug 7: Pointing out that Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cannot be predicted, Health & Family Welfare Minister Kalikho Pul confirmed death of three persons due to the disease in the state and 17 of the 37 identified confirmed JE. Pul said all preventive measures, like flogging operation and supply of mosquito nets have been initiated and vaccines were given earlier and symptomatic treatment was being given to the patients besides proposal to procure JF vaccines. He appealed to the masses to take preventive measures and the administration to ban export of JE carriers like pigs.
On some pharmacies reportedly were selling JE vaccines amounting to commercialize the dreaded disease, Pul regretted that life saving drugs were also being sold the same way because of nexus between some unscrupulous doctors and pharmacies contrary to the directive of the GoI to prescribe only generic medicines. The drug inspectors will keep a tab on such unethical practice, he said.
“I and the director have written to the DCs and DMOs to remain alert while I am constantly monitoring,” he disclosed.

NERCORMP is a project by NEC funded by the Ministry of DoNER, Government of India. The project implementation formally started its operations from July 2014 by setting up a Development Support Team (DST) in the district led by the Project Managers. NERCORMP III is targeted to cover approximately 588 villages benefitting 29,424 households by establishing Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Natural Resource Management Groups (NaRMGs) in the three districts.

The health minister disclosed that to translate his concept of zonalisation of health services for effective health care delivery services, the GoAP on July 31 last notified to upgrade district hospitals at Bomdila, Ziro, Tezu and Khonsa to zonal general hospitals (ZGHs). Bomdila GH (western zone) would cover Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng; Ziro GH (Central zone) Kurung Kumey, Upper and Lower Subansiri; Tezu GH (Eastern zone) Anjaw, Lohit, Namsai, Lower & Upper Dibang Valley, Khons GH (Southern zone) Changlang, Tirap & Longding; while the existing Pasighat GH would cover Upper, West and East Siang districts. The ASH would cover Papum Pare beside as referral hospital of the state.
Doctors and specialists being recruited now would be posted, equipments for conducting major operations besides medicines provided to the ZGHs to provide solace to needy and poor patients who have been going outside the state for treatment, he informed.
Moreover, drug inspectors would be posted in the ZGHs to check the quality of medicines through test, ensure expired medicines are not supplied to patients from the hospitals and pharmacies and other anomalies to send quarterly report to the directorate.

Malaria cases decreasing in East Siang
PASIGHAT, Aug 7: The report prepared by the District Surveillance Officer Dr. Tarik shows clear progress in the fight against malaria as the mortality rates have fallen drastically this year in the district said East Siang DMO Dr. D Bagra.
He informed that the district had detected 2696 fever cases last year, out of which 214 patients were treated for malaria. The district recorded 110 malaria cases out of 2828 total fever cases this year, he added.

ITANAGAR, Aug 7: Various organizations of the state have deeply mourned the demise of prominent social worker Tame Yam Natung who passed way at R K Mission Hospital here yesterday after prolonged illness.
Late Tame Yam Natung was born on July 19, 1968 in Hiya village under Nyapin administrative circle of Kurung Kumey district. She started her schooling from Hiya Primary school and studied in various Schools like Government Higher Secondary School, Yazali, Government higher Secondary School, Naharlagun, Central School, Naharlagun etc. She did her graduation from Government College Itanagar in the year 1988 and post graduation in History from Dibrugarh University. She married to Dr. Bimal Natung in the year 1992.
While deeply mourning the death of Tame Yam Natung, the Tarh Welfare Society (TWS)

The entire family of the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar deeply mourned the death of Tame Yam Natung. Late Yam Natung had a long association with RKM hospital. She was inducted to the Managing Committee of the hospital in 1996 and continued to be a member of the Managing Committee until her breath.
Expressing sadness over the untimely demise of Tame Yam Natung, the PPA said, she will always be remembered for her contribution to the society in various capacities.
Arunachal Vikas Parishad also expressed its deep grief over the demise of Tame Yam Natung, one of the founder members of AVP. She was a lady with an extraordinary will power since her childhood, AVP said in its condolence message.
The Ningee, Natung, Moya & Tacha Welfare Society (NNMTWS) also deeply mourned the demise of Yam Natung, former chairperson of Arunachal Pradesh State Social Welfare Board. The tournament is a way to celebrate the positive spirit with which he fought his illness and to promote optimism in youth. It is organized by the friends & family members of the young artist and will be held on 12th & 13th August 2014 at the Conference Hall, Hotel Benjamin, Papunallah.

With the growing interest and number of participants, the organisers recognized that the event has become a just platform to interact with the young minds. Not missing the opportunity, the organisers have started an ‘Anti Tobacco Awareness Campaign’ parallel to the games since 2014. In its 5th anniversary addition too, the event will witness film screenings and interactive sessions that will create awareness on the dangers of smoking and of chewing guthkha and tobacco and also on substance abuse. Through the annual tournaments, there is a very conscious effort to remove the negative image of gaming and gamers. On one hand, the event aspires to legitimize its image as a sport (as it is internationally recognized) and on the other hand make the gamers aware of their responsibilities too.

B.Ed is only for select few
Dear Editor,
The demand for pursuing B.Ed degree is exploding year after year as it is a must
degree needed to be a teacher. Few private colleges are taking advantage of this
situation and exploiting the poor people of the state. They are demanding huge sum
as course fee which are beyond the reach of poor people. While some of the private
colleges keep their course fee at Rs. 70,000/-
Earlier, irrespective of background, a meritorious person became a teacher but now days; it is only for the rich one who can afford the huge amount of course fee. Off course B.Ed degree is a professional course but the fees are really very high as compared to other states.
So, my request to the State govt is that if B.Ed is a must degree for teaching profession than at least the State govt should make seats available at Govt. Colleges too. If that is not possible, at least keep some seats in private colleges for meritorious students and provide some subsidy in admission fee so that the poor students can also pursue the same degree.
Presently only R.G.U is providing the B.ed degree at a minimal fee but the number of seats are very less. Out of this, 30% of the seats are for deputed teachers of Govt. Of Arunachal Pradesh who can actually afford the course fee of private colleges too.
Why can’t the government monitor fee structure of private B.Ed colleges? Why there is a huge difference in the fees of different colleges of the state for the same degree whereas facilities are the same. They provide merely a class room and teachers.
I am not against private colleges but at least they can keep some % of seats for meritorious students without worrying about profits. They should also contribute for the development of the state as well.
I can understand that the setting up of private colleges requires huge capital but it’s not fair to collect the entire sum from the student at a time rather it should make profit gradually.
There should be one regulatory body to monitor the increasing hike in the course fee of such colleges otherwise in near future the cost for the B.Ed degree would be beyond the imagination of common people and only the rich can pursue the degree and there would be no chance for the poor people to opt for teaching profession.

Community response is the best way to tackle crisis

Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has become the buzzword of epidemic proportion just like its spread. Though the issues have been discussed in the Parliament and Health Departments, the crisis seems to have only deepened. Aggravating the situation is the panic spread by mischief mongers.
The indigenously manufactured JE vaccine, though is not very expensive, is not readily available in India. For a 100 billion population, manufacturing of only approximately 20 million doses in a year (2013) is definitely not a good news. The Indian Government needs to assist private manufacturers in increasing the volume of doses manufactured to meet its demand. It’s a manifestation of knowledge deficit about the medical world realities of the disease and its vaccination on behalf of the people/organizations who are demanding free vaccination for JE.
Firstly, people should be educated about the cause of the disease. It is important that they keep their surroundings clean. Pigs that roam around freely across paddy fields and towns should be checked by the community concerned and Government’s assistance needs to be sought where ever needed. To control the spread of the virus, panchayat and municipality authorities need to maintain cleanliness and ensure effective garbage disposing methods to stop possibilities of breeding of mosquitoes, the chief carrier of the JE virus.

Sprinkles on running traffic
Dear editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed paper, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities regarding the miserable conditions of roads.
In Daporijo, there are many potholes which cause accidents and tyre bursting. During rainy season, the situation becomes all the more worse.
The water collects in them and sprinkles on the running traffic. In this way vehicles and clothes are spoiled.
Not to speak of this, there have appeared cracks on the other approaching roads as well; thereby a lot of inconvenience is caused to all. Even the main roads are also not well.
I request the authorities to get it repaired before any mishaps occur.

Lack of value education and moral corruption
Dear Editor,
In Arunachal Pradesh, there is lack of value education and spirituality in our people. There is no emphasis on value education in schools as well as in the society.
In this case materialism and individualism have entered into the mind of people and needless desires have also increased. The needless desires change the course of the life of people.
Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi said that “Our earth is everything to satisfy our genuine needs and not for greed”.
Money is needed for self contentment but today people are crazy for more money and power. It is true and fact that in our state rich became richer and poor became poorer. This has resulted into crime, corruption, and criminalization.
Ordinary people are fighting tooth and nail for their basic needs like children’s education, government job, medical treatment, food and clothing but many are enjoying foreign tours, buying high ended vehicle, constructing huge building and also many are engaging in amassing money and property by hook and crook.
Value education and spirituality needs to be emphasized to eradicate the malpractices and corruption.
Our state might loss its dignity and culture if it does not fight on time as the saying goes “Stitch in time saves nine”.

Dear Editor,
"Sir aaj nahi aaiga hoga" has been the ready-
No doubt the reply in broken Hindi will surely make those, who have waited for many hours to meet “Sirji”, angry and disappointed. But you have to keep your cool, because there is no other option.
From my personal experience, it is found that many officers do not reach office in time while many remain absent from duties for several days and weeks causing great inconvenience to the general public, who come to office on various purposes. They come to office late and leave office before end of the working hours.
There has always been allegation that there is a lack of work culture among Arunachalee officers and officials. My experience has substantiated the allegation once again.
Hence, I appeal to those stubborn officers to change attitude, develop work culture, and realize the value and importance of the posts they are adorning. I also appeal to the higher authority concerned to pause for a while and think the matter seriously.
Someone rightly said, “Arunachal Pradesh is a land of Khushi Khishi,” but for how long?

Provide free vaccination
Dear editor,
We are living in fear because of Japanese encephalitis. We want the govt to help us by providing free vaccine in every govt hospital to tackle this epidemic.
Most of the people cannot afford the vaccine so many parents are giving vaccine to their children alone.
People of Arunachal Pradesh gave the government responsibility to protect us so the government should provide free vaccine. Other states are providing free vaccine then why can’t our state govt provide us as well?

Complaints are being received from various parts of state alleging that fogging is not being done in planned manner by the officials of health department. State government has also failed to make JE vaccination available in government hospital. Citizens are buying medicines from private pharmacy at high rate. Proper media campaign should be launched to educate people about how to save oneself from this disease.
